Total Solar Eclipse in Europe
On 12 August 2026, a solar eclipse will be visible across parts of Europe and the north Atlantic. The path of totality will cross Greenland, Iceland, Spain and a small area of northeastern Portugal. Other parts of Europe will see a partial solar eclipse.

On Wednesday, Aug. 12, a total solar eclipse will be visible in parts of Greenland, Iceland, Spain, and the Atlantic Ocean. A partial solar eclipse will be visible in most of Europe and parts of North America.
Totality will begin in Iceland at 1:45 p.m. EDT (1745 UTC) and in Spain at 2:28 p.m. EDT (1828 UTC).
Can't see it where you are? We'll be streaming live views from a number of cameras in the path of the eclipse — and sharing info about the science of eclipses and how we're studying them.
